Drive starring Ryan Gosling hooks you in with its killer eighties style electronic soundtrack and Gosling’s silent, charming hero. While the plot might be lacking in areas, it’s easy to overlook this with its focus on stylistic choices. Gosling’s silver, quilted jacket with a gold scorpion embroidered on the back, the synthesized electronic undertones, bright neon lights and gruesome scenes of violence. It all works together to produce a film that offers more than the usual ‘boyz, guns n’ cars’ scenario, with great performances from Gosling, Carey Mulligan, Christina Hendricks and Albert Brooks. We fell in love. Hard.
